  • Silver

Number four

We were never with more then four members, strange enough.

Papyrus always worked in small exhibitions with people who were specialised in only one thing, eg old masters drawings (Kekko), icons (Maria Caremans), precolombian textiles (Daroun,  Antwerp), haute époque (De Vooght, Bruno Speybrouck, Herfsttij), clocks (Chronos), old paintings (Antony Prnic), old prints (Guy van Hoorebeke) and Chinese porselein (Marc Michot),   Sometimes our exhibitions were at home,  sometimes you could find us in Knokke, or in our shops in Bruges. We were never with more then four members.

  • Silver

Number 4

When Papyrus split, three parts went to Antwerp. In Antwerp  we continued the Georgian period. In Bruges, Papyrus at first only continued with Georgian silver.

Olman soon settled with

Georgian

1.oriental works on paper,

2.musical instruments and

3. English furniture.

4.Georgian silver stayed in Papyrus, Bruges

Papyrus, the start

Papyrus was in the beginning not ment to become specialised in silver but writing antiques. Soon, as we became anglofile by travelling so much,  we became interested by the Georgian period, the most refined period in England in our eyes .

With the Georgian period, we fell in love with Georgian silver but soon we couldn't deny the beauty of export and colonial wares. The use and trade of tea, coffee, chocolat, silk, porcelain precious and semi-precious stones brought us to families in England who travelled for generations to other cultures. Objets de vertu, precious objects, old jewellery and even more precious silver was our answer. Now we present you our beautiful world of precious  silver.
